An easier way to create instant playlists that fit the passenger’s taste and style of music.

Personal Project
Context
I was on a trip to Delhi, where I used a carpooling web platform, and shared the cost of the ride with two other passengers. As I am a big fan of Spotify, I directly put some music from a playlist I made for my road trips. The other passengers really liked my music and wanted to share their music with me as well. After struggling a bit to connect their phones to the bluetooth car system, I could enjoy their music and their personal stories related to the songs.

Challenge
But what if there was an easier way to create instant playlists that fit the passenger’s taste and style of music?

Research
Who are music lovers?
To better understand people who like listening to music, I did a survey to collect quantitative data from users regarding their music consumption, how they share music and create playlists. Here is a summary of the key findings from 40 responses (mainly between 19 to 35 years old) :
Music consumption:
79% use YouTube when listening
to music
70% use Spotify when listening
to music
86% use a smartphone to listen
to music
Music consumption:
From features they like the most, 41% prefer song suggestions
From the features they would improve, 58% answered similar artists
62% would like to use tags to find specific songs
Playlist creation, share
music with friends:
57% listen to music with friends at
parties, 19% in the car, 17% when travelling
55% created a playlist to share
it with friends at parties, 36% for travels
37% share their music with friends via private message only

Problem
How to design a solution for music lovers, with different music tastes, styles, and consumption, so that they can listen to music together?
Passionate music lovers, who like to share and talk about music, need a way to create instant playlists that fits the crowd and the moment so that they can enjoy a unique time with friends or family.

How can we help him?
Through brainstorming, I came up with some features, I then prioritized them into 4 groups using the Moscow method, classifying them as “must have”, “should have”, “could have” and “won’t have”.

Novel Features
The features I decided to focus on will add value to the users by providing them:

UI & Prototype
